The lectors (readers) play an important role in the Liturgy of the Word as they proclaim and share the Word of God with the people gathered. They read the first and second readings at Sunday and special/Holy Day Masses.  They also read the petitions at Mass.  Lectors are scheduled once a month; however, you have opportunity to read more as a sub, which are always needed.  There is a one-time training to go over procedures, which takes about 30 minutes.
