Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded.  It must be explained to faithful that the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  For by the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285)

The Sacrament of Confirmation is generally celebrated in the 8th grade* at St. Albert the Great, although specific formation for the Sacrament begins in 7th grade. Hence, Confirmation preparation is a 2-year program, generally for 7th and 8th graders. We typically celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in early February.

Please register your child for Sunday Religious Education and we will be in contact with information on Confirmation.

If your child is a student at St. Albert School, we will send details home with your student and be in touch via email.

GOALS:  We hope to help equip the confirmadi (those preparing for Confirmation) with the tools necessary to be rooted in their relationship with God (Eph. 3:17-19)  so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) , they will be able to use the gifts God has given them (Is. 11:2-3) to live as disciples of Jesus and set the world on fire.

"Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire." -St. Catherine of Siena

*The parents or guardians of any student who desires to enter the Confirmation preparation program after an extended absence of formal faith formation or who is a high school student should contact the Director of Religious Education before registering for the program.
