Ascension Men's Fellowship
All men of the Kettering Catholic Community are invited to participate
in our discipleship journey on June 10 from 8-9am. This month is the
second episode of "Lectio: Mark" by Dr. Tim Gray. Following his baptism in the Jordan River and temptation in the wilderness, Jesus returns to Galilee where he invites the first disciples to follow behind him, and begins the work of regathering the scattered people of God. If you cannot participate in person, then consider watching the series on your own at the Formed.org website. Please join us in Room 119/120 in Witzman Center (basement of Church) and let us grow in faith together. To receive invitations to the monthly Men's Fellowship group meetings sign up on Ascension's FlockNote page and join the Men's Fellowship group. Contact Mike Wager at 937-361-1369 or mewager07@gmail.com.
Here’s how the 2023 Big Summer Read will work:
1. Purchase a copy of Mere Christianity.
We’ll have a limited number of copies available for purchase at the Kick-off event. Contact Sarah Archuleta at
sarchuleta@stcharles-kettering.org if you’d like one.
Mere Christianity has been in print since the 1940s, so finding a used copy at a 2 nd hand bookstore or online is usually pretty easy. If you prefer a new copy, you can purchase
one anywhere you normally buy books.
2. Join us for the Big Summer Read Kickoff Thursday, June 29 at
the St. Albert Spirit Center.
At this gathering we’ll:
A) Give a little background for Mere Christianity
B) Distribute copies of the Reflection/Discussion questions
C) Have a few copies of Mere Christianity available for purchase
3. Join a reading group with friends, family or other parishioners.
You can read on your own, with your family at home, or with friends or neighbors. We don’t care how you do that – just that you read it If you’d like to be in a group led by a Parish Staff member, we’ll have five options:
Monday Mornings 9:30 AM (at St Charles) beginning July 3
Monday Evenings at 7 PM (at Ascension) beginning July 10
Wednesday Mornings at 9:45AM (at Ascension) beginning July 5
Thursday Evenings at 6:30 PM (at St Charles) beginning July 6
4. Read Mere Christianity at your own pace or whatever pace your group sets, and use the provided questions for Discussion and/or Reflection
5. Join us for a Closing Celebration Friday, August 18 at 7:00 in the
St. Albert Spirit Center
