In times of emergencies, please contact the Parish Office.  Parishioners are encouraged to receive this sacrament at a weekly Liturgy before they go to the hospital if they know they are scheduled for surgery.

The sacred Anointing of the Sick with the prayers of the priests, the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.  And indeed the Church exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.(Catechism of the Catholic Church 1499)

The letter of James states that the sick are to be anointed in order to raise them up and save them.  The church seeks to give this sacrament to those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age.
